Qualifications:

MA Social Work, MSc Integrative Psychotherapy, Certificate in Integrative Supervision, Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (CBT).

Training:

I trained in Integrative Psychotherapy and Supervision at the Metanoia Institute.  I did my Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy training at the University of Brighton, under the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme.  I have also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) Part 1.

Experience:

I currently divide my time between work as a Psychotherapist and Supervisor in private practice, and working as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist in the NHS.   I began my life as a therapist over 25 years ago when I volunteered as a Counsellor for a young people's project.   Since then I have had a wide range of clinical experience including:

  • working as a Social Worker in a therapeutic Family Centre with children and parents experiencing problems in family life - this included work with all kinds of childhood abuse.

  • working as a Counsellor in a mental health team

  • working in an inner-city Counselling service within a multi-ethnic community 

  • working as a CBT therapist in GP surgeries
