Brighton and Hove Psychotherapy

Supervision for EMDR Therapists, CBT Therapists, Counsellors, Psychotherapists and Clinical Psychologists.

I have a breadth and depth of experience of therapeutic work that lends itself to supervising in a variety of settings.  For many years I have run a busy private practice in Brighton and Hove, working with adult clients, individual supervisees and supervision groups.  In the past I worked as a CBT and EMDR therapist, and supervisor, within an NHS mental health team and IAPT service.  I currently provide supervision for Therapists and Group Facilitators at Survivors' Network and RISE (voluntary organisations in Brighton).  My background includes working as a qualified Social Worker with children and families and as a Community Worker in the voluntary sector.  I am interested in the challenges presented by the working environment - whether it be private practice, voluntary agencies, or the NHS.   I have expertise in working with trauma using different modalities (including EMDR and Trauma-Focused CBT), and often provide supervision to others gaining experience in trauma work.

My supervision work includes supporting practitioners through various Accreditation processes, including BACP and EMDR.

I offer specialist supervision in EMDR, and also supervision which is an integration of different models (with aspects of humanistic and psychodynamic), designed to meet the needs of individual supervisees.   My background includes the following:

I am an accredited EMDR Consultant (Supervisor).   I regularly attend EMDR national and international conferences and keep up-to-date with developments in the EMDR world.   I currently supervise both trainees and experienced EMDR therapists.  As a Consultant I can supervise those therapists working towards EMDR Accreditation.   I also run EMDR Supervision Groups.  If you are interested in a place in a group please contact me for availability.

I am an assistant facilitator on EMDR training courses and I help to organise CPD events as a Committee member of the EMDR Sussex Regional Group.

I am a BABCP-accredited CBT therapist and also trained in Supervision of CBT.   I offer supervision to CBT therapists and to those who are trained in a different model, but would like to integrate CBT into their practice.  I have particular expertise in using CBT as part of a wider integrative model.

Integrative Relational Psychotherapy

I trained at the Metanoia Institute in this model.   I also did a course in Integrative Supervision at Metanoia.  This aspect of my work is influenced by Relational Psychoanalysis, Existential theories, Humanistic models (such as Gestalt and Transactional Analysis), and Body Psychotherapy.    I am very interested in how we integrate across models - what fits together and what may be incompatible.  I work with both process and content in therapy and supervision.

I am approved as a Primary Supervisor for the Metanoia MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy and the Doctorate in Counselling Psychology.
